Surf Lessons
We offer three different types of surf levels to suit your needs:
Beginners – Intermediate – Advance
SEMI-PRIVATE SURF LESSON
$65/ person
Ideal for couples or small families, these lessons
offer a personalized experience while keeping
a fun social atmosphere.
In addition, we include all equipment and
transportation. Simple show up and we handle
the rest!
PRIVATE SURF LESSON
$75/ person
Private lessons offer personalized attention and
accelerated progress. Because we focus only on
you, we build your confidence faster.
We also offer flexible scheduling to fit your needs.
Furthermore, all equipment and transportation
are included, plus 1 free hour with a board
after your lesson!
BEGINNER GROUP SURF LESSON
$60/ person
Our group lessons make learning to surf fun and
motivating. We designed them for beginners,
friends, families, travelers, and larger groups.
In addition, learning alongside others builds
confidence and makes the experience more
enjoyable.

Improve your surfing skills and technique with more than just one lesson.
Taking multiple lessons gives you the chance to deepen your understanding of surfing, build a solid foundation, and truly enjoy the experience of catching your own waves.
PADDLE BOARD EXPERIENCE
$55/ person
The stand paddle board (SUP) experience starts early, allowing us to enjoy the peaceful Caribbean Sea beneath the rising sun.
Combining gratitude and serenity.
This tour takes place at Playa Cocles, where we paddle around the stunning Piripli Island, home to herons, pelicans, and a rich variety of marine life. Along the way, we’ll stop for a brief break on the beach to hydrate. Afterward, we’ll take a short hike to one of my favorite coastal lookout spots for breathtaking views.

Our new surf coaching program is designed for surfers of all levels—beginners, intermediates, and advanced.
We start with the basics, then tailor the lessons to your individual level and learning style, ensuring a personalized approach to help you progress faster and more effectively.

Founder & Head Instructor
Dexter Lewis is a professional surfer, certified
surf instructor, and local tour guide based in
Puerto Viejo de Limón, Costa Rica.
He began surfing at age 11 during the early rise
of surf culture on the Caribbean coast. Since then,
he has dedicated his life to the ocean, teaching,
and community.
With over 20 years of experience, Dexter has
competed on the Costa Rican National Surf Circuit.
He is also a certified lifeguard, known for teaching
surfers of all ages with a focus on confidence,
technique, and enjoyment.
As the founder of Lewis Brother Surf School,
Dexter combines professional coaching with
authentic local insight. His long-term vision is
to strengthen the local surf community through
youth programs, surf clubs, and sustainable
surf tourism — always emphasizing respect for
the ocean and having fun.

ABOUT US
Lewis Brother Surf School is a locally owned surf school
in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. We were founded by
professional surfer Dexter Lewis, and we are proud to
share our love of the ocean with every student.
We offer beginner-friendly surf lessons led by local,
certified instructors. Because we are from here, we know
the waves, the conditions, and the Caribbean culture
better than anyone.

sure every student feels welcome — regardless of age
or experience level.
HOW THESE SURF LESSONS WILL BENEFIT YOU:
BEGINNER — Master the basic steps of surfing. You will
learn to pop up on the board and ride your first wave
with confidence.
INTERMEDIATE — Refine your technique and learn to
read waves. As a result, you will catch your own waves
and start mastering basic turns.
ADVANCED — Adapt to changing ocean conditions and
tackle more challenging waves. Therefore, you will push
your surfing to the next level.
