Semi-Private lesson offer the same personalized coaching as private lessons, but in a fun, social setting.
Perfect for couples, friends, or small family, these lessons let you learn together and share the surfing experience. Sometimes, having a partner by your side makes all the difference—boosting your confidence and making the learning process more enjoyable. You’ll master the basics and build a solid foundation, all while having fun with those around you!

COACHING PROGRAM BEGINNERS

Time: 2 hours surf session per day

Introduction to surf:
The beginners program is a complete introduction to the basic fundamentals of surfing. Once we have harnessed the basics we can begin to build up from there.
What you will learn:
Introduction to environment and ocean safety
– Introduction to equipment and surfboard handling
– Personal safety
– Warm up exercises
– Basic steps to stand up or pop-up
– Paddling form
– Catching waves

Founder & Head Instructor
Dexter Lewis is a professional surfer, certified surf instructor, and local tour guide based in Puerto Viejo de Limón, Costa Rica. He began surfing at the age of 11, during the early rise of surf culture on the Caribbean coast, and has dedicated his life to the ocean, teaching, and community.
With over 20 years of experience, Dexter has competed on the Costa Rican National Surf Circuit and developed deep knowledge of reef breaks, ocean conditions, and surf safety. He is a certified lifeguard and surf instructor, known for teaching surfers of all ages and levels with a focus on confidence, technique, and enjoyment in the water.
As the founder of Lewis Brother Surf School, Dexter combines professional surf coaching with authentic local insight, offering surf lessons and guided experiences that connect people with the ocean, Caribbean culture, and nature. His long-term vision is to strengthen the local surf community through youth programs, surf clubs, and sustainable surf tourism—always emphasizing respect for the ocean and having fun.
